We are a family of five living on our farm near Mount Pleasant in the Mount Lofty Ranges, South Australia. Raised in the country with a love of community and all things food and farming, we made a tree change, having a desire to raise our children on a small farm and enjoy country life.
Avid farm wanderers with a love of the outdoors, horses, and motorbikes, we have enjoyed the lifestyle and evolution of our farm over the years while raising sheep, cows, pigs, ducks, and chickens. Business has been an ever-consuming part of our lives, but sometimes the universe sends you a message. Seeing an opportunity for change we sold the animals, packed up our trailer, and set out on an adventure around Australia.
Our journey around Australia was an extraordinary experience filled with amazing people and places. While exploring everything that Australia has to offer, it became clear that we needed to get back to the simple things in life and take advantage of all the opportunities that we had right at our doorstep.
We believed we had something special to offer, and this is where The Natural Egg was born. It was our love of home and our community that drew us towards this exciting opportunity. We wanted to create something that enabled us to work from a place we love and share our story from our paddock to your plate.
Our farm is a picturesque landscape of moss rock covered hills, large gum trees, and meandering creeks. From our verandah, with a cuppa in hand, we can relish the views and the synergy of farm life. You can always see kangaroos abound, an unlikely friendship between a horse and a ram, a dog at the heels of a less than impressed cow the mischevious play of newborn lambs, and a wily fox.
It is tranquil and sometimes a chaotic mix of 3 dogs, a cat, and at times an orphaned lamb or a calf. A flock of sheep room the paddock with a few cows, allowing us to produce our own meat and revel in producing chorizo, prosciutto, smoked hams, bacon, and sausages. Combined with our chooks for eggs, a small orchard, and a veggie patch or two we have everything we need to live a wholesome, country lifestyle while still being less than an hour from the heart of the city.
